Our Pursuit
God has given us a vision at Grace Community Church to pursue four main objectives in our Creative Arts Ministry, and in our weekend service. AUTHENTICITY EXCELLENCE RELEVANCE VOLUNTEERISM Philosophy of Worship 1. Above all, our objective is to corporately worship Christ in spirit and truth. 2. We aim to keep the glory of God central in all of our worship including music, prayers, and sermons. 3. We utilize graphic and visual arts to enhance/create an environment that will facilitate a corporate worship experience. 4. We want to inspire in our people a passion for living a life of worship towards God, and a passion to express it corporately. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.” Romans 12:1 5. We desire to be aided and led by the Holy Spirit as we seek to lead our people in authentic Christ exalting worship. “For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh.” Philippians 3:3 6. We want our people to know that we prayerfully consider everything that we do in our service and no decisions come casually. 7. We desire to see our people grow in their faith and in their desire to know God in an intimate way. “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3
During the context of our services our musicians, media technicians, and other volunteers are doing much more than a task, they are worshipping God as a living sacrifice, and serving the kingdom with their gifts. We desire for their service to be an authentic act of worship.
The Bible teaches, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind” (Lk 10:27). To give God anything less than our very best is offensive. We strive for excellence in every aspect of our ministry and in our services, understanding that perfection is unattainable.
Jesus was relevant to his culture and we believe that God is calling us to be relevant to ours. Our music style at Grace, along with our teaching, and production will be relevant to modern culture.
The church was designed to be primarily a volunteer organization, and this idea is extremely evident in the book of Acts. The idea that the “clergy” or staff is paid to do ministry is NOT Biblical, in fact the role of the pastor is to train and equip the members of the Church to serve the Body (Eph 4:12). We value volunteers highly, and understand that ministry cannot happen without them.
Below is the Grace Community Church Creative Arts Ministry philosophy of worship; it is why we do what we do.
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
“The LORD said to Moses, ‘See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.’” Exodus 31:1-5
I will protect the unity of our Creative Arts Ministry by:
Acting in love toward other members of the ministry (Mark 12:31)
Refusing to gossip (Ephesians 4:29)
Maintaining a positive attitude (Philippians 2:5-8)
Addressing conflict biblically (Matthew 18:15)
I will share in the responsibility of the Creative Arts Ministry by:
Praying for its health and growth (Colossians 1:9-12)
Inviting others to connect to the ministry
Warmly welcoming all guests and new members (James 2:1-4)
I will maintain a high level of commitment to our Creative Art Ministry by:
Being present when scheduled (Numbers 30:2)
Being accountable and displaying maturity
Attending training events and rehearsals
Living as a true worshipper both on & off the stage (John 4:23)
I will support the testimony of our Creative Arts Ministry by:
Growing in Christ daily (Joshua 1:8; 1Thessalonians 5:17)
Being a person of integrity and maintaining a good testimony (Matthew 5:16)
Participating in a reaLife group (Acts 2:46; Galatians 6:2)
Regularly attending worship services (Hebrews 10:24-25)
